POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 21-year-old Haines City man was arrested Sunday afternoon for reckless driving after performing donuts in a residential neighborhood in Poinciana.

A Polk County Sheriff’s deputy observed Joshua Maldonado driving his black 2005 Infiniti Q45 in circles in the area of Dogwood Road and Violet Court around 3:28 p.m. Maldonado then proceeded to perform donuts in two intersections, prompting the deputy to conduct a traffic stop.

Maldonado admitted to the deputy that he was testing his tires for a racing event in Orlando. He also acknowledged that he did not have a valid driver’s license, the car was unregistered, the tag did not belong to the vehicle, and he had no insurance.

Maldonado was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail, while his vehicle was impounded. He faces charges of reckless driving (a felony) and several misdemeanors related to driving without a license, registration, and insurance.
