TAMPA, Fla. – A tragic accident claimed the life of a pedestrian Monday morning in Tampa.
Tampa Police responded to a report of a serious crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle around 6:57 a.m. near the intersection of West Hillsborough Avenue and North Lois Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found a Hispanic male in his mid-50s with critical injuries. He was transported to a local hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the man was crossing Hillsborough Avenue southbound outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a white Ford F-350 truck turning eastbound onto the avenue.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation.
The eastbound lanes of West Hillsborough Avenue were temporarily closed while officers investigated the crash but have since reopened.

Speed is not believed to be a factor in the accident, and no criminal charges are expected to be filed.
