Trulieve, a major player in Florida’s cannabis industry, has added another $10 million to support a political committee working to pass a constitutional amendment allowing recreational marijuana use in the state.
According to recent finance filings and a state elections database, this brings the company’s total contributions, both cash and in-kind, to $113 million as of October 18.

Political committees were required to file their financial reports for activity from October 12 through October 18 by Friday. The Smart & Safe Florida political committee, largely funded by Trulieve, reported raising a total of $120.77 million in cash and around $944,000 in in-kind contributions since its formation in 2022.
The group has spent approximately $116.87 million, including $11.637 million in the recent reporting period.

Smart & Safe Florida is actively campaigning to pass Amendment 3, which will appear on the November 5 ballot. The proposed “Adult Personal Use of Marijuana” amendment would permit adults 21 and older to “possess, purchase, or use marijuana products and marijuana accessories for non-medical personal consumption by smoking, ingestion, or otherwise.”
The campaign faces opposition from Governor Ron DeSantis, who is leading efforts to defeat the measure. State agencies have aired controversial TV ads aimed at discouraging voters from supporting the amendment. This follows Florida’s approval of a constitutional amendment in 2016 that legalized medical marijuana in the state.
