TAMPA, Fla. -Hillsborough County health officials are alerting residents to a fourth case of locally acquired dengue fever. In response, the county remains under a mosquito-borne illness alert, and aerial spraying is underway.
The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County (DOH-Hillsborough) and Hillsborough County Mosquito Control are working together to monitor and prevent the further spread of the disease.
Residents are urged to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.

DOH-Hillsborough continues to monitor the state for mosquito-borne illnesses, including:
- West Nile virus
- Eastern equine encephalitis
- St. Louis encephalitis
- Malaria
- Chikungunya
- Dengue
Floridians can help by reporting dead birds to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
