Romeo Pop Sacui, a Guatemalan citizen wanted for child abuse, violence against women, and abuse of power in his home country, has been deported from the United States.

Pop Sacui, who had a final order of removal, was removed to Guatemala on October 22nd by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Philadelphia.

“Protecting the American public is a key priority for ERO officers,” said ERO Philadelphia Field Office Director Cammilla Wamsley. “Our officers routinely arrest and remove violent criminal noncitizens, such as Romeo Pop Sacui, who have broken laws in their home country and continue to do so in the U.S.”

Pop Sacui was initially arrested by U.S. Border Patrol near Calexico, California, in March 2019 for illegal entry. He was placed in an ‘Alternative Detention program’ but absconded shortly after. A deportation order was issued in absentia in May 2019.

In September 2024, Pop Sacui was arrested in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, for assault and strangulation. ERO Philadelphia apprehended him later that month and detained him pending his removal to Guatemala.
