A Texas mother is facing capital murder charges after allegedly causing fatal injuries to her 17-month-old daughter and abandoning her on a roadway.

According to Galveston Police Chief Doug Balli, officers responded to a report of an unresponsive child near Seawall Boulevard on the morning of October 23rd. They found the young girl on the pavement with signs of life and immediately began life-saving efforts. The child was transported to a hospital trauma center but tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

The victim’s mother, 30-year-old Channel Yonko, was taken into custody following the child’s death.

An affidavit obtained by KRIV-TV reveals chilling details, alleging that Yonko intentionally dropped her daughter from a hotel balcony. Investigators have reportedly obtained video footage that shows the child falling from the third floor.
