In an interview on OutKick’s Maintaining with Tyrus, former President Donald Trump discussed potential policy ideas, including a proposal to eliminate taxes for military personnel, veterans, police officers, and other public servants.
Host Tyrus suggested the idea of exempting those who serve the country from paying taxes as a form of recognition for their sacrifice.
Trump responded with interest, stating, “It’s the kind of thing you would think of,” and mentioned that other countries already offer similar incentives. He added that such policies could help address recruitment challenges in the military and law enforcement.

Trump also touched on broader national security concerns, emphasizing the idea that the U.S. faces more significant threats from within than from foreign adversaries like China or Russia.
“We have more of an enemy from within than we do from outside,” Trump stated, pointing to figures such as Rep. Adam Schiff, whom he criticized as part of the internal opposition. He reiterated his long-standing critique of the “fake news” media, a term he claimed to have coined, stating that it distorts his image and policies.
Tyrus also pressed Trump on why the media rarely highlights his personal acts of generosity, such as his past support for Nelson Mandela and his charitable donations. Trump explained that he doesn’t seek praise for his actions, adding, “I just like helping people.” He expressed frustration with the media’s portrayal of him, suggesting that they prefer narratives that cast him in a negative light.

The conversation also delved into the challenges facing law enforcement and first responders, with Tyrus advocating for more support, including tax relief for those who serve. Trump agreed that more should be done to support these groups, hinting at a future policy proposal.
The interview highlighted Trump’s focus on national security, his personal values, and his ongoing political priorities as he campaigns for the 2024 presidential election.
