TAMPA, Fla. – A Tampa man accused of stabbing a woman Wednesday night was apprehended Thursday morning after a dramatic chase and jump from an I-275 overpass.
Police responded to a stabbing at the Trails at Hunters Village Apartments on Wednesday night where they found a woman with multiple stab wounds. The victim, who knew her attacker, was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Police quickly identified the suspect as 31-year-old Thomas Sapp. After an intense search involving the Tampa Police Department and the US Marshals Task Force, Sapp was located in a car on County Line Road over I-275 Thursday morning.
As officers attempted to stop traffic and approach Sapp, he jumped from the overpass, landing on the interstate below and narrowly avoiding being hit by a semi-truck. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Sapp will be charged with attempted murder. The investigation is ongoing.
