Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has provided updates on the states response and recovery efforts following Hurricane Milton. This week, he announced a $9.5 million grant to SeaPort Manatee for infrastructure repairs.

He awarded $500,000 to non-profits for services like debris removal and temporary home fixes, along with $400,000 for first responders.

Additionally, the Florida Disaster Fund has raised $12.2 million for relief efforts since Hurricane Helene, remaining active for Hurricane Milton recovery.

As of October 16, 51,701 residents are still without power, with ongoing recovery across impacted counties.

DeSantis announced that Florida had received approval for a major disaster declaration from FEMA for Hurricane Milton, unlocking federal assistance for residents and public infrastructure.

Individual Assistance is available in 35 counties and for the Miccosukee Tribe, while Public Assistance is granted for 55 counties, covering emergency work and repairs to damaged facilities.

Executive Order 24-215 declares a state of emergency for 51 counties.

Recovery efforts continue with emergency fuel distribution, rescue operations, and shelters for displaced residents.
