Disaster Recovery Center Opens In Tampa For Hurricane Victims: Residents And Businesses

TAMPA, Fla. – In response to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Milton, Helene, and Debby, Hillsborough County, in partnership with the Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the City of Tampa, has established a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) to aid those affected.

This center serves as a central hub for individuals, families, and businesses seeking assistance in the aftermath of the storms.

Operating Hours and Location:

  • The DRC is housed at the David Barksdale Senior Center, 1801 N. Lincoln Ave., Tampa, FL 33607.
  • It will be open Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and then daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Available Support:

  • The center offers a range of services, including guidance on completing applications for federal aid, information on available resources, and direct support from FEMA representatives.

Applying for Aid:

  • Those seeking assistance can apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov, where they can also review the application process and check their application status.
  • The FEMA Helpline, (800) 621-3362, is available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, for those needing help with the application process.

  • For technical assistance or help with website issues, residents can contact the Internet Help Desk at (800) 745-0243, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
