What is a Boil Water Notice?

A boil water notice is issued when there is a possibility of contaminated water entering the water supply. This can occur due to storm damage, power outages, or other disruptions to the water system. Boiling water for at least one minute kills harmful bacteria and other organisms that could cause illness.
