Artolino De Castro, a 48-year-old from Fort Myers, has won a $1 million prize from the Florida Lottery’s “$1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR” scratch-off game. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum of $640,000, the lottery announced last week.
De Castro purchased the lucky ticket at a 7-Eleven located on Convenience Way in Fort Myers. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The “$1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR” game offers two top prizes of $1 million a year for life and 234 prizes of $1 million. With over $1.6 billion in total cash prizes, the game has overall odds of winning of 1 in 4.50.
Scratch-off games are a significant revenue source for the Florida Lottery, making up approximately 74% of ticket sales. Since their inception, scratch-off games have awarded over $63.1 billion in prizes, created 2,175 millionaires, and generated more than $19.24 billion for Florida’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
