ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – As Hurricane Milton batters Florida’s west coast, St. Petersburg is facing significant damage, including a crane collapse at the 400 Central construction site and roof damage at Tropicana Field.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue received reports of both incidents late Wednesday night. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at either location.

Public Urged to Stay Clear

With Hurricane Milton still raging, the public is urged to continue sheltering in place and avoid the areas surrounding 400 Central Avenue and Tropicana Field. This is crucial to ensure public safety and avoid interference with emergency operations.

Safety Instructions:

  • Stay away from damaged areas: Do not approach 400 Central Avenue or Tropicana Field.
  • Monitor official updates: Follow the City of St. Petersburg’s official channels for the latest information.
  • Report emergencies: Call 911 immediately if you witness further damage or individuals in need of assistance.

Damage Assessment and Next Steps

First responders will conduct thorough damage assessments at both sites once conditions allow. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
