MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A violent altercation at a Tavernier marina and bar has left one man seriously injured and another facing aggravated assault charges.
The incident occurred Tuesday evening at Mangrove Marina, where a dispute between a bar employee and a customer escalated into a physical fight. According to witnesses, 52-year-old Donovan Wayne Steen, an employee of the bar, repeatedly punched a 48-year-old customer while he was on the ground.

The victim sustained severe injuries, including a collapsed lung, facial fractures, deep lacerations, and an orbital fracture. He was airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center in Miami for treatment.
Steen was arrested and taken to jail. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
