JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man and U.S. Navy sailor has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for using the internet and his cellphone to try to entice a 13-year-old child into sexual activity.

Michael Buck Brockway, 40, was also ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release following his prison term, pay $48,000 in restitution to child victims, and register as a sex offender.

According to court documents, Brockway engaged in sexually explicit online conversations with an undercover agent posing as a 13-year-old child. Brockway, using the online alias “Telly_Rider,” sent the “child” explicit videos of himself, some of which were produced while he was on duty aboard a U.S. Navy ship.

He then drove to a pre-arranged location to meet the “child” and was arrested by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detectives.

“This case highlights the dangers that children face online and the lengths that predators will go to exploit them,” said U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg. “We commend the work of our law enforcement partners in bringing this individual to justice.”

A search of Brockway’s belongings revealed condoms, lubricant, a sex toy, and numerous images and videos depicting child sexual abuse.

This case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown.
