ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – In response to the severe impacts of Hurricane Helene on the community, the City of St. Petersburg, in collaboration with PSTA, is offering a two-week period of fare-free bus service within city limits starting Monday, Sept. 30.
The “St. Pete Emergency Zero Fare Program” aims to support thousands of residents who have lost vehicles due to flooding, as well as those facing damage to their homes and other disruptions from the storm. The City recognizes that many are dealing with additional financial pressures in the aftermath of Helene, whether or not they lost a vehicle or live in a flood-affected area.
The fare-free service will be available from Monday, Sept. 30, to Sunday, Oct. 13, for regular bus trips beginning and ending in St. Petersburg. Normal fare rates will resume on Monday, Oct. 14, 2024.
“As part of the City’s recovery efforts and in order to reduce the financial and transportation impacts Helene has caused, the City has made this arrangement to assist our residents with their essential transportation needs and as a small gesture to help everyone through this tough time,” said Mayor Kenneth T. Welch.

Riders are reminded that the SunRunner will be turning around at Pasadena due to limited westbound access.

This pilot program applies only to regular bus services and does not cover Access, MOD, or other mobility services.
