HIGHLANDS COUNTY, Fla. – Miguel Luis Cardenas, 31, of Lake Placid, is currently in the Highlands County Jail facing a range of serious charges following his arrest in Lake Placid.
Deputies responded to a domestic dispute call at a home on Impatiens Street Friday, where Cardenas, who already had an active felony warrant from a September 10th incident, was present. Upon seeing the deputies, Cardenas attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended.

A search of Cardenas revealed six baggies of fentanyl, totaling 7.2 grams, and a hypodermic needle containing 13.6 grams of liquid fentanyl. He was charged with fentanyl trafficking, drug equipment possession, and resisting arrest.
The previous warrant stemmed from a September 10th incident where Cardenas allegedly entered an acquaintance’s home, assaulted the victim, prevented them from leaving, and stole their cell phone. For this incident, he faces charges of kidnapping, burglary, robbery, theft, and criminal mischief.
Cardenas is currently being held in the Highlands County Jail.
