TAMPA, Fla. – The City of Tampa Solid Waste Department will start collecting storm debris resulting from Hurricane Helene on Monday, September 30, 2024. Debris includes vegetative waste, household items, and construction materials.
Immediate Collection Requests:
Residents who need immediate debris removal can call the City of Tampa Solid Waste Call Center at 813-274-8811.
Official Collection Starts October 7:
The citywide collection will officially begin on Monday, October 7, 2024. No call-in requests will be necessary after this date. Crews will systematically collect storm debris from curbs throughout the city.
Guidelines for Residents:
- Collection: Crews will collect damaged household items, construction debris, and vegetative waste from the curb.
- Preparation: Separate household items and construction debris from vegetative waste. Place all debris curbside, three feet away from any obstructions.
- Vegetative Debris: Place vegetative debris (shrubs, palm fronds, tree limbs, etc.) curbside in a pile, a non-city-issued garbage container, or yard waste paper bags.
McKay Bay Transfer Station:
Residents and businesses can also dispose of hurricane debris at the McKay Bay Transfer Station. City of Tampa residents with Solid Waste accounts can dispose of accepted items at no extra charge.
Transfer Station Hours:
The McKay Bay Transfer Station will resume normal operating hours on Saturday, September 28, 2024:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Wednesday and Saturday: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
