HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A 24-year-old Brooksville man was seriously injured in a collision with a log truck on State Road 50 this morning. The accident occurred at the intersection of Emerson Road, where the log truck, driven by a 56-year-old Leesburg man, was stopped at a traffic light.

As the log truck began to accelerate after receiving a green signal, the Brooksville man’s Chevy Silverado overtook and collided with the load of logs, despite the presence of warning flags and lights.

The Brooksville man sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The log truck driver was not harmed in the incident.
