HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – In anticipation of extreme weather conditions brought on by Hurricane Helene, the National Weather Service has issued flood watches and warnings throughout Hillsborough County.
Flood Watch:
- The entire county is under a flood watch, indicating that conditions are favorable for flooding.

Flood Warnings:
- The Little Manatee River at Wimauma is under a flood warning for minor flooding, expected from Friday morning until Sunday night.
- The Alafia River at U.S. 301 is also under a flood warning, with the river expected to crest at around 8 feet through Friday afternoon.
Remember:
- A flood watch means flooding is possible, while a flood warning means flooding is imminent or already happening.
- Flooding can occur anywhere, even in areas not typically prone to it.
- Even shallow water can be dangerous.

- Know your flood zone and sign up for HCFL Alert to receive emergency notifications.
- Monitor local river and stream levels.
