TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – In anticipation of Hurricane Helene, the City Council of Temple Terrace has declared a local state of emergency, effective from 6 pm on Wednesday, September 25th, until Friday morning.
This declaration highlights the potential flood risk to the community and empowers the city to bypass certain procedures and formalities concerning public safety and city operations, as outlined in the City’s Emergency Management Plan.

All city offices and programs will be closed starting 6 pm on Wednesday and will remain closed through Friday. Sanitation, residential solid waste, and recycling collection services will be suspended on Thursday, with a full resumption of services expected on Friday.
The City’s Emergency Operations Center will be activated if necessary. While Police and Fire communications will remain operational during the storm, responses to service calls will be prioritized based on the severity of the situation and the availability of emergency personnel.

Residents are strongly advised to stay indoors until the storm passes. If conditions become too dangerous for first responders, they may only be able to respond once the storm has subsided.
