HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County has issued a mandatory evacuation order for Evacuation Zone A and all mobile homes and manufactured housing within the County, effective 9 a.m. today,

September 25, 2024. Six shelters are now open for residents in Evacuation Zone A, those in homes vulnerable to storm surge and flooding, and those in manufactured housing susceptible to wind damage. Residents in Evacuation Zone A should be in a safe location by 5 a.m. on Thursday, September 26.

  • Burnett Middle School (pet-friendly)
  • Durant High School (pet-friendly)
  • Middleton High School (pet-friendly)
  • Sickles High School (pet-friendly)
  • Reddick Elementary School
  • Erwin Technical College (Special Needs only, pet-friendly)

Important Notes

  • Special-needs shelters are for residents with medical needs requiring electricity assistance or cognitive issues not supported in general population shelters.
  • Residents bringing pets to pet-friendly shelters need a sturdy carrier for each pet, a collar with a leash, and supplies for seven days. Visit hcfl.gov/residents/animals-and-pets/pet-ownership/pet-disaster-planning for more information.
