TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning kicked off their preseason with a 2-1 loss against the Carolina Hurricanes at AMALIE Arena. Despite controlling the shot count for most of the game, the Bolts couldn’t secure the win, conceding a late goal in the final minute of regulation.
The Lightning’s lone goal came in the first period from Logan Brown, assisted by Declan Carlile and Lucas Edmonds. Brown’s goal marked his return to action after recovering from an injury. For Carolina, Anttoni Honka and Aleksi Heimosalmi found the back of the net in the second and third periods, respectively.

Matt Tomkins started in net for Tampa Bay, making five saves on six shots before being replaced by Brandon Halverson, who stopped 10 of 11 shots. The Lightning held a 23-17 shot advantage but were outshot 8-3 in the decisive third period.

- September 27th: vs. Nashville Predators at 7:00 PM EST
- September 28th: at Nashville Predators at 8:00 PM EST
- September 30th: at Florida Panthers at 7:00 PM EST
- October 2nd: vs. Florida Panthers at 7:00 PM EST
