POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Armoni Moody, a 23-year-old from Davenport, has been indicted on federal charges of carjacking, brandishing a firearm during a violent crime, and possessing ammunition as a convicted felon.
If convicted, Moody could spend the rest of his life behind bars, with a minimum mandatory sentence of seven years.

The indictment alleges that on June 12, 2024, Moody used a firearm to carjack a vehicle, threatening the victim’s life in the process. His prior conviction for robbery with a weapon in 2021 makes his possession of firearms or ammunition a federal offense.
The U.S. government also intends to seize the firearm and ammunition allegedly used in the carjacking.
It is important to remember that an indictment is merely an accusation, and Moody is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney Jeff Chang will handle the prosecution.
