LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Fort Myers resident Durand Dijuon Demetiu Colbert has admitted his involvement in a drug trafficking operation that distributed methamphetamine and fentanyl in the Lee County area. He faces a potential life sentence in federal prison.

Colbert, 34, pleaded guilty to conspiracy with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and attempted possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The minimum sentence he could receive is 10 years.

The plea agreement details how Colbert collaborated with a California-based individual to obtain and distribute drugs in Lee County. The supplier, located in the Los Angeles area, shipped controlled substances to Colbert using the U.S. mail and other carriers.

Law enforcement actions in November 2023 shed light on the extent of the operation. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office discovered approximately 1,700 fentanyl pills during a search of Colbert’s residence. Later that month, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service intercepted multiple packages addressed to Colbert in Fort Myers containing methamphetamine.

The investigation into this drug trafficking ring was a joint effort by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the United States Postal Inspection Service. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Morgan.

Colbert’s sentencing date is yet to be determined.
