PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Despite recent rainfall, water resources in western Florida remain below normal levels, prompting Pasco County Utilities to emphasize the importance of water conservation.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District’s modified Phase I Water Shortage Order, which limits lawn watering to once a week, has been extended through December 31st.

“Recent rains in Pasco County have not been enough to combat earlier months of dry conditions in our region,” says Pasco County Utilities Customer Information & Services Director Sandra Anderson. “Reservoir levels remain lower-than-normal making it vital for everyone to follow irrigation guidelines. Once-a-week watering can result in a thriving, strong, and drought-proof landscape.”

Key Points:

  • Watering is restricted to once a week, regardless of the water source.
  • Year-round irrigation times are:
    • Potable, well, and surface water: 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.
    • Reclaimed water: Midnight to 8 a.m.
  • Conservation is crucial for all water sources, including reclaimed water.

Helpful Tips:
