A father’s quick action led to the arrest of a man who was allegedly peeping into his 14-year-old daughter’s bedroom window.
On September 12th, the Palm Coast man and his wife had already encountered the suspect, Damon Smith, creeping through the trees on their property the previous night. Concerned for his family’s safety, the father decided to keep watch on his back porch the following night.
As he suspected, Smith returned and walked towards his daughter’s window.

The father confronted Smith, swinging a bat at him and chasing him away. Although Smith managed to escape briefly, the father immediately alerted the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were able to identify Smith as the suspect, and upon questioning, he admitted to being on the property and confessed to getting a thrill from peering into people’s windows. Smith was arrested for Loitering or Prowling, Voyeurism, and Aggravated Stalking of a Person Under 16. He is currently held on an $86,000 bond.
This isn’t Smith’s first run-in with the law; he was previously arrested for making a bomb threat at Flagler Palm Coast High School in 2013.

“This pervert said he gets excitement from peeping into other people’s windows but this time he came across a father protecting his daughter,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Thankfully deputies tracked this pervert down and got him checked into the Green Roof Inn.”
