A political committee backing a proposed constitutional amendment to legalize recreational marijuana in Florida raised more than $4.5 million between Aug. 31 and Sept. 6, according to a recent finance report.
The Smart & Safe Florida committee, which is advocating for Amendment 3 on the November ballot, received nearly all of its funds from the cannabis company Trulieve.

During this period, Trulieve contributed $4.5 million in cash and provided an additional $382,945 in in-kind contributions. Since 2022,
Trulieve has donated $87.77 million in cash and in-kind support to the committee, according to state records.

If passed, Amendment 3 would allow adults 21 and older to possess, purchase, and use marijuana products for personal, non-medical use. Florida voters approved medical marijuana through a constitutional amendment in 2016.
