HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a potential threat at Newsome High School. As a precaution, the school was placed on lockdown and deputies are on the scene. Authorities are working to assess the credibility of the threat.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office released modified dismissal times for today:
The following are dismissal times for Newsome High School.
- Student Drivers: 2:50 p.m.
- Buses: 3:05 p.m.
- Students Walking: 3:30 p.m.

“No one is permitted to enter or leave Newsome High School at this time. Parents, please do not attempt to pick up your children at the school. Park in the Shops of Fishhawk across the street. Our deputies are on-site working to ensure the safety of all students and staff. We understand your concern. Thank you for your cooperation,” said the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in a statement.
