MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Brian Patrick McCoy, 51, of Ocklawaha, has been found guilty and sentenced to life in prison for the sexual battery of a child under 12 years of age. The Marion County jury also convicted him on charges of promoting sexual performance of a child and possessing child pornography. Judge Timothy McCourt handed down the life sentence, along with additional consecutive sentences totaling 25 years.
“Crimes committed against children tear apart the very foundation of trust and hope that is essential for their future,” said Bill Gladson, Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney. “We commend Sheriff Woods and his detectives for their dedication and pursuit of justice in this case. We hope this sentencing can offer a glimmer of hope for the victim and their family, so they can find the strength to heal.”

McCoy, a registered sex offender, was arrested in 2019 after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
During the investigation, McCoy admitted to viewing and saving child pornography. A forensic examination of his device uncovered the incriminating files, including videos that identified the victim.
This successful prosecution was led by Assistant State Attorneys Shanae Pickens and Sasha Kidney.
