HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is aware of the nationwide trend of false school threats and wants the community to know that they take every threat very seriously.
Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized that reporting a false threat isn’t a joke but a crime. These false alarms divert critical resources from real emergencies, potentially endangering lives.
“Let me be clear: making a threat against a school is not a joke; it’s a crime,” said Chronister.
The Sheriff’s Office urges everyone to report any concerning information, but also to remember that false threats have serious consequences.
They are committed to working together with the community to keep schools and the community safe.
