A joyous wedding celebration in Flint took a tragic turn on August 30th, 2024, when an argument between the groom and a groomsman escalated into a fatal hit-and-run.
The victim, 29-year-old Terry Lewis Taylor Jr., was struck by a large SUV driven by the groom, James Shirah, 22, following an altercation.

Taylor Jr. was rushed to Hurley Medical Center but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
“Further investigation revealed that earlier that day, Taylor Jr had attended a wedding as a groomsman. After the wedding he was involved in an argument which led to him being intentionally struck by a large SUV that was travelling at a high rate of speed and driven by the groom,” said Flint Police Department.
Shirah has been charged with Second Degree Murder and is currently held without bond.

His bride, Savahna Collier, 21, faces charges of Accessory After the Fact to a Felony and has a bond set at $4,000.
