POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Michael Didiano, 42, of Winter Haven, learned the hard way that cutting off your ankle monitor isn’t the best way to avoid jail time.
Didiano had been placed on house arrest with an ankle monitor back in July, but apparently decided he’d had enough of that after a month. He reportedly declared he wasn’t going back to jail, but fate, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, had other plans.

Deputies received a tip about Didiano’s whereabouts and showed up at a Coleman Road residence at 1:45 am. Hearing the commotion, Didiano made a beeline for the bathroom, hoping for a hiding spot.
His plan was thwarted when Deputy Gann and his K9 partner, Rone, were about to make a grand entrance. Didiano wisely chose to surrender rather than face a furry confrontation.

Now, Didiano is back behind bars, facing an additional charge of tampering with a monitoring device. It seems his brief taste of freedom came with a hefty price tag.
