BARTOW, Fla. – A dramatic carjacking incident in Bartow ended with the arrest of Michael D. Jackson after a high-speed chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
The incident began around 3:15 pm today when Bartow Police received a report of a carjacking involving a black pickup truck near Conant Street and Highway 17 S. Officers quickly spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but Jackson refused to comply and led them on a chase through Bartow and onto Hwy 98.

The pursuit, joined by Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol, concluded at a dead end south of the Polk Parkway. Jackson then rammed three Bartow Police vehicles with the stolen truck before being apprehended.
Jackson faces multiple charges, including carjacking, fleeing to elude, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and driving without a valid license. He is currently being questioned by detectives and will be booked into the Polk County Jail.

Fortunately, no injuries or significant property damage were reported, aside from the damage to the police vehicles and the stolen truck. The investigation is ongoing and further details may be released as they become available.
