A 36-year-old man, Sergio Ferrer, has been arrested in connection with the murder of Paul Peavey, a 57-year-old dog breeder who was found dead on his property nearly two weeks after he went missing.
Peavey, a well-known Doberman breeder, was last heard from on August 19th and reported missing on August 21st. His body was discovered by a private search party on August 24th. Several of Peavey’s Doberman puppies were also missing from his residence.

Authorities have confirmed that Peavey’s cause of death was a gunshot wound, and his manner of death has been ruled a homicide. The medical examiner’s estimated time of death aligns with the timeline of Peavey’s last communication.
While Ferrer was initially arrested on an outstanding warrant from Nebraska, he is now considered a person of interest in Peavey’s murder. Investigators have submitted an affidavit for Ferrer to be charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, and aggravated robbery. The relationship between Ferrer and Peavey remains undisclosed.

The Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone who purchased a Doberman since August 20th to check for a microchip and contact them, as all of Peavey’s dogs were microchipped. The investigation into the missing puppies and Peavey’s death is ongoing.
