An Indiana man, Eliasard Moneus, 28, is facing multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder, and battery, after authorities allege he left his 3-month-old son in a bucket, resulting in the child’s death, while he attacked his wife.

On August 10, 28-year-old Eliasard Moneus allegedly took his infant son from his wife’s arms and placed him in the bucket before assaulting her with a tire iron or wrench, causing severe injuries, including a skull fracture.

The woman drove herself to a hospital and told authorities she didn’t know where her baby was.

The Lafayette Police Department issued a Silver Alert for Jacob, stating that the infant had been abducted, was in “extreme danger,” and might require medical assistance.

Moneus was quickly apprehended but denied knowing his son’s location.

Tragically, the baby’s body was discovered the following day in a bucket at Moneus’ apartment. The death was ruled a homicide due to asphyxiation.

Moneus now faces a slew of charges, including murder, attempted murder, and criminal confinement. He has pleaded not guilty and awaits trial, which is scheduled for January 2025.

If convicted, he faces a potential sentence of 45 to 65 years for the murder charge alone.
