The remains of Penni Whiteside, a woman reported missing in May 2022, have been discovered buried under a firepit in the backyard of a Myrtle Beach home.
Sheridan Dirk Fogle, 54, of Orangeburg, South Carolina, has been arrested and charged with her murder.
According to WMBF, Whiteside was last seen alive at the 1st Avenue South home she shared with Fogle. After an extensive investigation, authorities obtained a search warrant for the property in June 2024.

The grim discovery of Whiteside’s remains was made during the subsequent search.
Fogle was apprehended in Orangeburg on August 29th and is currently facing murder charges.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details about the circumstances surrounding Whiteside’s disappearance and death have not yet been released.
