HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A 19-year-old woman from Spring Hill, Florida, has been arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect after a one-month-old infant was hospitalized in critical condition.
The incident came to light when the infant was brought to Oak Hill Hospital with a severely swollen head. Medical scans revealed multiple skull fractures, along with fractures to both shins, both femurs, and a collarbone. These injuries were in various stages of healing, indicating ongoing abuse.

The infant’s mother, Arianna Renee Hamilton, initially claimed the injuries were caused by the baby rolling off a bed. However, medical professionals determined the injuries were inconsistent with an accidental fall.
Further investigation uncovered evidence of past injuries to the infant, including photos taken by a family member who had confronted Hamilton about the child’s condition.

During an interview with detectives, Hamilton confessed to becoming frustrated and squeezing the infant too hard, causing the fractures. She also admitted to not seeking immediate medical attention for the child.
The Department of Children and Families has issued a safety plan, and Hamilton is currently being held without bond.
