TAMPA, Fla. – A fire broke out at an apartment complex on W. Sligh Avenue in Tampa early Tuesday morning, prompting a swift response from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR).
Multiple 911 calls reporting heavy smoke alerted authorities to the blaze around 2:00 AM. The first HCFR unit arrived on the scene within seven minutes, confirming a working fire with significant smoke and flames visible from the three-story building.

Firefighters quickly launched a coordinated attack, extinguishing the fire within 20 minutes. Three units were affected, and the Red Cross has been called in to assist displaced residents.
Thankfully, no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. However, two cats remain unaccounted for. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
