Congressman Michael Waltz (FL-06) was honored Friday with the MG Ronald O. Harrison Distinguished Service Award from the National Guard Association of Florida. Established in 2003, the award recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the Florida National Guard over an extended period.
It is named after MG Ronald O. Harrison, who served as the Adjutant General of the Florida National Guard from 1992 until his retirement in 2001.

Joining Rep. Waltz at the event was retired astronaut and Air Force colonel David Scott, who flew missions on Gemini 8, Apollo 9, and commanded Apollo 15. Scott was also promoted to honorary Brigadier General.
Upon accepting the award, Rep. Waltz expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am deeply honored to receive the MG Ronald O. Harrison Distinguished Service Award and to be recognized by the National Guard Association of Florida. The work the association does to support its members is invaluable, and I am proud to have contributed to that mission. Having served 22 years in the National Guard and 5 years in the U.S. Army, I remain committed to advocating for those who wear the uniform and protect our freedoms.”
