U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry in Texas recently seized more than $498,000 worth of cocaine in a significant drug bust.

“This cocaine seizure highlights our frontline officers’ dedication to securing our borders and preventing dangerous narcotics from entering the United States,” said Port Director Liliana Flores of the Del Rio Port of Entry.

The incident occurred on August 22 at the Del Rio International Bridge when CBP officers referred a Nissan Sports Utility Vehicle for further inspection. Utilizing a CBP canine and non-intrusive inspection technology, officers conducted a thorough search of the vehicle.

They uncovered 14 packages hidden within a compartment in the floorboard, containing over 37 pounds of cocaine. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of $498,645.

CBP took possession of the narcotics, and the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Division arrested the driver. A criminal investigation has been initiated.
