POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A family vacation took an unexpected turn in Polk County, Florida, when a 22-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting from a resort gift shop.
On Sunday evening around 5:50, a Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a theft report at a Davenport vacation resort. An employee informed the deputy that a woman had taken a pair of swimming goggles from the resort gift shop without paying.

The deputy located the woman, identified as 22-year-old Jasmine Chatman from Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the pool area. The goggles, already removed from their packaging, were with her 15-year-old brother.
According to the Lieutenant on the scene, Chatman and her family told deputies that she could not be arrested because they were flying back to Michigan on Monday. The family was informed that there is zero tolerance for theft in Polk County by investigators.
