Florida Abortion Amendment Initiative Draws Over $7 Million In August

A political committee championing abortion rights in Florida has raised a significant amount of money in recent weeks.

Floridians Protecting Freedom, the group spearheading the effort to pass Amendment 4, has raised $7.26 million between August 3rd and Thursday, bringing their total fundraising to $47 million.

Significant contributions include $5 million from Lantana resident Marsha Laufer and $2 million from the Open Society Action Fund.

Amendment 4, if passed, would enshrine the right to an abortion in the state constitution up until fetal viability or when necessary for the patient’s health.
