HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) responded to an individual who suffered burns Friday while attempting to ignite a pile of yard debris.

The person had used gasoline to help start the fire, but unfortunately, sustained severe burns that necessitated transport by ShandsCair Critical Care Transport Program helicopter to a local burn center.

“As a reminder, please NEVER use gasoline or other flammable liquids to assist in starting yard debris or any other types of fires,” said HCFR.
