SARASOTA, Fla – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of Jose Andino, whose body was discovered inside his submerged vehicle in Phillippi Creek on Monday.

Andino, 67, was reported missing on August 6th after he failed to arrive at work. His vehicle, a 2005 Toyota 4-Runner, was spotted by a passerby as water levels in the area receded. Divers subsequently recovered Andino’s body from the submerged vehicle.

Prior to the discovery, the sheriff’s office conducted an extensive search using K-9 units, aviation, and marine units, focusing on the areas near Bahia Vista and Phillippi Creek where Andino’s cellphone last pinged.
