CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Sheriff Mike Prendergast, while assessing roads and checking on deputies during Hurricane Debby on Monday, August 5th, pulled over 38-year-old Candace Wisecup for erratic driving.

Wisecup showed signs of intoxication, with the smell of alcohol on her breath and slurred speech. Several open containers were found in her vehicle.

Wisecup failed field sobriety tests and refused a breathalyzer. She was also found to be driving with a suspended license.

“Unfortunately, while natural disasters like Hurricane Debby are barreling down on our county, some citizens believe that law enforcement isn’t watching,” said Sheriff Mike Prendergast. “Thankfully, Wisecup was caught and put behind bars before hurting anyone or causing any damage. This should remind everyone that our team is always here to ensure your safety, regardless of the weather.”
