TAMPA, Fla. – The two northbound inside lanes of the Howard Frankland are now open

The Howard Frankland Bridge, a major artery connecting Tampa and St. Petersburg, was completely closed to northbound traffic since 4:30 AM this morning due to damage caused by Hurricane Debby.

The outside lane initially closed at 1:30 AM due to heavy wave action and debris on the roadway.

However, further erosion led to portions of the shoulder and roadway washing out on the Hillsborough side, necessitating the full closure.

Motorists should seek alternate routes as crews assess and repair the damage. It is unclear when the bridge will be completely reopened.
