Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Warns Of Jail Scam

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public about a scam targeting families of inmates in the Pinellas County Jail. Scammers are contacting family members via phone and text, falsely claiming that sending money via Bitcoin/Crypto ATM will expedite court appearances or lower bail.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that they will NEVER solicit money or banking information over the phone.

Residents are urged to be cautious and avoid providing personal or financial information over the phone. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office at (727) 582-6200.
