Azuradee France, 33, of Detroit, was sentenced Monday to 35 to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to the death of her 3-year-old blind son, Chayce Allen. The boy’s decomposing body was discovered in a basement freezer in June 2022.
Wayne County Circuit Judge Qiana Lillard handed down the sentence after France pleaded guilty to second-degree murder just before her trial was set to begin. Prosecutors dropped charges of felony murder, child abuse, torture, and concealing the death of an individual as part of the plea deal.

Police found Chayce’s body in the freezer after responding to a call at the Detroit home.
France admitted to kicking her son in the chest in March 2022 out of frustration because he wouldn’t eat. She later placed his body in the freezer.
“I pray that you find healing, that you one day actually regret what you did to your children, especially Chayce, because he didn’t deserve it,” said Azuant Sauls, France’s sister, according to FOX2 Detroit.
An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head.
