TAMPA, Fla. – A construction worker was killed this morning in an accident at Tampa International Airport. The incident occurred around 7:41 a.m. on the Airside A shuttle guideway renovation project.
Airport police and other authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, which involved a construction equipment operator. No further details are available at this time.

Airport CEO Joe Lopano expressed his condolences, stating, “We are heartbroken about the passing of one of our construction workers. We share our deepest condolences with his loved ones. Tampa International Airport is conducting a comprehensive investigation into this accident.”
Flight operations have not been affected, but passengers being dropped off at Blue Arrivals are being redirected to Blue Express lanes during the investigation.
